Meet Eric Dahl

October 29, 2024 (Bold Journey)

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Eric Dahl. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Eric, really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I believe that all of us have many purposes, but how I found my work or career purpose was purely by accident. Working in Media most of life I had moved around to different cities and states across the US for the company I work for. When I landed in Nashville, TN I realized that no media outlets in the market were interviewing music artists at a deeper level and discussing their favorite music gear with them. So, I pitched the idea to the News Director at the time and she said that it sounded like a great idea, but if I wanted it done, I would need to do it. That certainly wasn’t the goal as I was hoping that a reporter or anchor would take up the cause and fulfill my vision. Instead, I launched the Rock & Review and started the show by myself discussing new music gear that was being released. Then my Producer at the time suggested I bring on some of my sidemen/women musician friends in Nashville to discuss music gear. Which in turn lead to the actual music artists and bands wanting to come on the show. Now in its 12th season we recently recorded our 1,000th episode of Rock & Review interviews and hope to expand it to more markets around the world.

Meet Eric Dahl | Host of the Rock & Review with Eric Dahl and Writer

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 20, 2024

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Dahl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eric, why did you pursue a creative career?

I didn’t really feel like there was any other choice. My Dad was a weekend musician and my Mom was an Art teacher, so I was always around creative people from a young age. Video content, media and music have provided me with those creative outlets. I find it fascinating to interview Music Artists, Authors, Documentary Producers and Artistic Painters that are related to music and feature them on the Rock & Review each week. I find myself constantly learning and growing as I surround myself with creative minded people and share their stories.

The Right Place at the Right Time: Rock & Review Host Eric Dahl Shares His Story

Sometimes the hardest part of being a writer is getting that opening sentence down. The easy part is finding people and stories to write about. There are so many interesting people in the world. One of these is Eric Dahl, author of a book about B.B. King and his beloved Lucille, a guitar that had been stolen and pawned, only to be discovered (in a pawn shop) and retrieved (returned) by Dahl himself. As they say, "You can't make this stuff up."

Eric Dahl's career spans both print and broadcast media. Today he is host of a show called Rock & Review which airs on FOX 17 in Nashville as well as a Rock & Review TV series. He is also a magazine editor and freelance writer.
